About your AcuRite devices

It's important to learn how to manage your AcuRite devices from your My AcuRite account.

AcuRite Connection Device

An AcuRite Connection Device (AcuRite Access, smartHUB, PC Connect) is a stand-alone device that receives readings from AcuRite indoor and outdoor monitoring sensors and then sends the readings to My AcuRite and to Weather Underground over its network (internet) connection.

  • A Connection Device is associated to your My AcuRite account by its unique 12-character Device ID.
  • Once you add the Connection Device to your account, from the profile of the device you then add your AcuRite sensor(s) to the device. Once a sensor is added to a Connection Device, its readings are sent to My AcuRite allowing you to view and monitor its readings and status at anytime from your My AcuRite account.
  • The Dashboard displays a tab for each Connection Device.
  • To allow a Connection Device to send its received sensor readings to Weather Underground, a Weather Underground sharing profile must be created in My AcuRite.
  • AcuRite Access device - supports up to seven (7) compatible AcuRite sensors. Download the AcuRite Access Quick Install Guide
  • AcuRite smartHUB - supports up to ten (10) compatible AcuRite sensors. Download the AcuRite smartHUB device Quick Install Guide
  • PC Connect - software that allows readings from a single 5-in-1 Weather Station to be sent (uploaded) to My AcuRite and Weather Underground. Readings are sent using the PC Connect software installed on your computer and the USB connection between your computer and the Indoor Display, the readings are sent over your computer's network (internet) connection. A PC Connect Device Connection is is associated to your My AcuRite account by the unique 12-character Device ID of the 5-in-1 Indoor Display. Once you add the PC Connect Connection Device to your account, you then add your 5-in-1 sensor to the PC Connect Connection Device.

AcuRite Indoor and Outdoor Monitoring Sensors

AcuRite sensors take readings at their installation location. An AcuRite Connection Device (AcuRite Access, smartHUB, PC Connect) receives and sends the readings to My AcuRite. If setup to share with Weather Underground, a Connection Device sends (uploads) a sensor's outdoor readings directly to Weather Underground.

From the profile of a Connection Device, your AcuRite sensors are listed in two categories - either in My Sensors or Available Sensors.

My Sensors - lists the sensors that have been added to the Connection Device. The sensor readings are being sent to your My AcuRite account. To view the readings of a sensor from My AcuRite, the sensor is required to be added to a Connection Device.

Available Sensors - lists the sensors that are have not been added to the Connection Device. If the Connection Device is an AcuRite Access or smartHUB device, the sensors listed are in wireless range of the device, but the readings are not being sent to My AcuRite. If using PC Connect, My AcuRite sharing is enabled in the PC Connect software, but the readings collected by the 5-in-1 Weather Station are not being sent your My AcuRite account.

How often are sensor readings sent to My AcuRite?

The frequency that sensor readings are sent to My AcuRite (upload frequency) is dependent upon the type of AcuRite Connection Device.

NOTE

The latest sensor reading is displayed on your Dashboard and all readings received are displayed in Charts & Details in 5 minute intervals.

AcuRite Access - the most recent received readings are uploaded to My AcuRite every 5 minutes.

Calculated reading types, such as Dew Point and Feels Like, are calculated locally by the device and uploaded to My AcuRite. Reading calculations are based on all readings taken by each sensor during each 5 minute interval.

Accumulated reading types, including rainfall, light intensity, and lightning, are uploaded to My AcuRite as an accumulative total of readings received during each 5 minute interval.

When an AcuRite Access device is operating on battery backup power or it does not have a network (internet) connection, its readings are not sent (uploaded) to My AcuRite or Weather Underground. During battery backup use or when it does not have a network (internet) connection, the device continues to receive readings and stores up to 12 hours of readings (logged readings) in its local memory. All logged readings are sent (uploaded) to My AcuRite when its AC power or network (internet) connection is restored. Logged readings are not sent to Weather Underground.

AcuRite smartHUB - readings are uploaded to My AcuRite at the time a reading is received from an AcuRite outdoor or indoor monitoring device (sensor) by the smartHUB. The upload frequency is based on each sensors' reading frequency.

PC Connect (for use with a 5-in-1 weather station only) - the readings of a 5-in-1 Weather Station are sent to PC Connect by way of the USB connection between the Indoor Display and your computer. Readings are uploaded to My AcuRite over your computer's network (internet) connection. For PC Connect use, My AcuRite sharing must be enabled in the PC Connect software. The upload frequency is based on each of the 5-in-1 sensors' reading frequency.

How often are readings sent to Weather Underground (upload frequency)?

The frequency that readings are sent to Weather Underground are dependent on the type AcuRite Connection Device and the reading frequency of each sensor.

AcuRite Access - the sensor's outdoor readings are sent (uploaded) to Weather Underground by way of Rapid Fire updates at the time the readings are received by the device from an outdoor device. The frequency readings are received by the device is based on each sensor's reading frequency.

NOTE

When an AcuRite Access device is operating on battery backup power or it does not have a network (internet) connection, logged readings are not sent (uploaded) to Weather Underground.

smartHUB Connection Device - the sensor's outdoor readings are sent (uploaded) to Weather Underground by way of Rapid Fire updates at the time the readings are received by the smartHUB device from an outdoor device. The frequency readings are received by the device is based on each sensor's reading frequency.

PC Connect software (for use with a 5-in-1 weather station only) - all readings received by the PC Connect software are sent (uploaded) to Weather Underground every 12 minutes. If Rapid Updates is enabled, readings are sent every 36 seconds.
